The school year has just started, and while it’s the start of the homework season, it’s also the start of something else, the fall sports season. Sports Medicine physician Ayo Adu, M. D. says he’s already seen several Victoria student athletes in his office with sports injuries.
Dr. Adu says concussions shouldn’t be taken lightly, and that a computerized impact test that’s new to Victoria is allowing them to check athletes who have suffered a concussion to make sure they are completely ready to get their head back in the game.
Dr. Adu says athletes may sometimes not report their symptoms for fear of losing playing time, but he says doing so is crucial to their overall wellbeing.
